During the summer I had the privilege of photographing Abby. I have been photographing her and her family since Abby was super young. She has always been such a pleasure to photograph and her senior pictures were so much fun. We met for her senior photography session at Scarborough Beach in Narragansett, RI. It was a beautiful night minus the wind (it kept messing with my lighting equipment, even with my assistant holding onto it). The wind worked out in the end as Abby has amazing long beautiful hair and we were able to get it to blow just the right way in the wind.
We started her session in her most casual outfit. I always like to start in whatever the senior brings along that is most casual as I always feel like that is what they will feel most comfortable in. For some (like Abby) getting your picture taken is fun and no big deal, for others it can be quite intimidating in the beginning, so I think feeling comfortable in your clothes helps with feeling comfortable in front of the camera.
We then moved onto her second outfit choice and braved the winds on the beach. It turned out to be an overcast day which is great for lighting, but you don’t get those vivid sunsets in the background. I personally like the overcast misty look of the beach. And that wind, it did amazing things with her hair.
We spent a fair amount of time on the beach before she changed into her final outfit of the session, a cute purple sundress. We walked around the perimeter of the beach and found some cool places for our final images.
