This summer in Connecticut has been a hot and dry one. That is until I had a beach session scheduled and then the sky's opened up and the rain poured down all day the day of a session that had already been rescheduled once. Thankfully it did clear up late afternoon and we were able to get to the beach and get our toes in the sand and get our session done. The sun even popped out for a little bit, it was beautiful. And then it was crazy, the second we were driving out of the parking lot it started absolutely pouring again! I would say this photography session was meant to happen and that Mother Nature was my friend that day.
We met at Hammonassett Beach in Madison Connecticut an hour before sunset. Due to the horrible weather day we pretty much had the beach to ourselves, which always makes my job easier.
I really do love what I do but these kids made the session ten times more fun. There were so many laughs and giggles (and I didn't even have to tell any of my corny jokes). We worked our way around the beach starting at the pavilion and ending on the beach walkway. Both girls are amazing gymnasts and had fun at the end of the session doing some flips while their brother tried his skills at some handstands. I love being able to mix it up at my photo sessions and have some fun.
Big brother was just about to leave for college so I had Mom jump into a few shots with him as well. Often times parents (myself included) decide against being in the photo because we don't like the way we look that day or we just want a picture of the kids, but I always try to encourage the parents to get in some of the photos, it's a memory for not only us, but for our children as well. I think Mom was happy that she did.
